Entrepreneurship has always interested me. I guess that comes from the fact that I was born into a family that has been in business for 3 generations. Each generation has innovated and entered into a new industry in keeping with the times and on occasion even ahead of their time.

I joined the business as soon as I completed my undergraduate studies and worked in the flagship company, Ador Welding. This company is the leader in the welding industry in India. It manufactures welding consumables and equipment. After working for 4 years I did my MBA in International Marketing in London.

Thereafter till the present, I took up board positions in all 5 group companies and the post of Managing Director in Ador Multiproducts Limited (AMPL). AMPL entered the personal care industry in 1986 as a joint venture with an American company to manufacture men’s cosmetics and toiletries in India. We are now one of the prime suppliers of personal care products to some of the biggest MNCs in India for both their domestic and export markets.

Additionally, as a board member of the other companies in the group, I have been involved in strategy planning for the entire group, with a market cap of approximately $150 million.

I am now based in Singapore, currently on a sabbatical, as I decided to move along with my husband, who is the head of M&A for Asia Pacific at Rabbobank International and currently here on a 3-year expatriate contract. We now have a one-year-old son and I am exploring various options including opening a branch office in Singapore or venturing into a different business entirely.

I was a member of EO Bangalore from 2003 - 2006 and found the experience valuable.
